About B-J

B-J Huff, candidate in the 2008 Fredericksburg, VA city council race, lives in the heart of Downtown Fredericksburg. Because he appreciates the quaint mood of the Fredericksburg streets, B-J has committed to keeping his car off the streets as much as possible, enjoying his daily commute on the VRE to Washington, D.C. B-J works for a major management and technology consulting firm as a Senior Management Analyst in the National Security Sector within the company’s Financial Management team. When he gets home from work, B-J is an active member at Grace Church of Fredericksburg, a frequenter of many local businesses, and a political enthusiast. He can’t wait to represent you as one of the next Fredericksburg City Council members.

B-J’s Background:

B-J grew up in Louisa, Virginia with his parents and older sister. B-J excelled in school and eventually attended Woodberry Forest a private boarding school in Madison, VA, where he received: “A Woodberry education, centered around a century-old, student-run honor system…characterized by intellectual thoroughness, moral integrity, [and] reverence for things sacred”

B-J first came to Fredericksburg as a student of the University of Mary Washington. B-J wasted no time getting involved in leadership roles, acting as president of his dorm his first year and honor council president during his third and final year at UMW. He also volunteered as a leader in the Grace Christian fellowship and participated in several overseas missions trips where he served people in Turkey, Kenya, and Israel. Both B-J’s active involvement in missions and his dedication to the honor system continue to influence his perspective of good leadership, and he looks forward to serving the city of Fredericksburg with the same passion and integrity with which he has served others.

Professionally, B-J’s work in both management and consulting capacities have prepared him to make fully informed decisions in representing the needs of others. B-J worked for Nature Neutral, a Charlottesville-based company committed to providing high quality, toxin-free, organic material for home projecting. While working at Nature Neutral, B-J developed an interest in seeking out eco-friendly ways to maintain high standards of living while being cost-effective. B-J has also worked at Tricord, where he became familiar with real estate and land development in Fredericksburg. B-J continued to develop his expertise in the financial arena, specifically in reference to corporate strategy and finance, in his next job as an accountant at General Dynamics Information Technology. While he worked for General Dynamics, BJ onsite at the Carderock Naval Surface Warfare Center, where he stayed until switching to his current job. B-J is looking forward to bringing his wide areas of expertise together to server the greater Fredericksburg area.

With financial and environmental know-how coming from his work experience, B-J’s education expertise comes from having two teachers in his family. B-J’s mom and sister both help to provide perspective on the needs of educators, schools, and students. His sister, Angela, works with high school students, teaching a remedial reading class for students who are behind in literacy development, SOL academies for students who struggle to pass the SOL, and honors level English for students who need to prepare for futures in top educational institutions. While Angela teaches high school in Charlottesville, Virginia, B-J’s mother works in a rural school system and has experience in the general elementary classroom, and she is now the coordinator for Science and Gifted Education for Trevillians Elementary School. Because B-J was raised in a culture that valued education, he will continue to reflect these values as he represents the needs of families within the school system here in Fredericksburg.

B-J is now seeking your support as he seeks the honor of being one of your next Fredericksburg City Council representatives. Click here to support B-J Huff today.
